Omaha, NE—Nebraska Republican Party Chairman Dan Welch was unanimously elected as the Midwest Region Representative to Republican National Committee’s Budget Committee during the national committee’s meeting in Dallas last week.

In his new role, Welch will help manage the national Republican Party’s budget going into the 2022 election cycle and create budget plans for battleground races and the midterm election.

Welch was a member of the Omaha City Council from 2001 to 2009. In March 2015, the Republican Party of Nebraska chose Welch to serve a two-year term as its chair. He was re-elected in 2017, 2019 and again in February of 2021.

“Nebraska is known nationally for reliable financial management and as a pay-as-you-go kind of place. I look forward to applying these principles to the national party’s budget as we approach the critical midterm election,” Welch said. “We can leverage strong financial management and broad opposition to the Biden Administration’s overreach into big gains for Congressional Republicans in the midterm elections.”

Under Welch’s leadership, Nebraska Republicans have expanded their state legislative presence, hold all five constitutional offices in the state and all five federal delegation positions. With Welch at the helm, Nebraska GOP has successfully won three consecutive elections in what is widely regarded as the country’s most competitive congressional seat in the Omaha metro-area.

Welch will continue to serve as the Chairman of the Nebraska Republican Party and Principal at Welch Law Firm during his term of service on the Budget Committee.
